The Lodge at Seyon is situated within the 27,000 acres of Groton State Forest. The secluded setting allows GMFFC campers to enjoy some of the most beautiful and undisturbed natural scenery in Vermont. Wildlife abounds and hiking and cross-country ski trails provide easy access to the solitude of the surrounding forests.
Groton State Forest is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation for year round recreation, forestry and wildlife habitat.
Groton State Forest is the second largest state lands holding administered by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Its size and diversity has enabled the conservation of a large landscape with its natural, cultural and recreation resources for the public to enjoy.
Aside from being a mecca for a wide variety of wildlife of all shapes and sizes, lands in Groton State Forest are also excellent areas for bird viewing. Sixteen species of warblers have been sightes here. Common Loons may be seen or heard on the larger ponds (Kettle, Peacham, Ricker, Groton) in the area. Owl's Head is an excellent place for viewing migrating hawks in late summer and early fall.

The Groton State Forest is located just west of Interstate 91 and the Connecticut River, approximately 50 miles north of White River Junction.
The major roads that travel through Groton State Forest are US Route 302 and VT Route 232.
